Israel says it attacked Mashhad airport; eases air raid warning, allows people to leave shelters
-
ISRAEL unleashed airstrikes across Iran for a third day on Sunday and threatened even greater force as some Iranian missiles evaded Israeli air defenses to strike buildings in the heart of the country. Planned talks on Iran's nuclear programme, which could provide an off-ramp, were canceled.
Israel's military said its air force struck Mashhad airport in Iran's northeast on Sunday, the latest move in what it calls an offensive against the Islamic republic's military and nuclear sites.
"A short while ago, the IAF (Israeli Air Force) struck an Iranian aerial refuelling aircraft at Mashhad airport in eastern Iran, approximately 2,300 km from Israel," a statement said, adding it was the longest-range strike conducted since the beginning of the operation on Friday.
