COMMUNICATION minister Jyotiraditya Scindia on Thursday said a 10% increase in mobile phone tariff by telecom service providers (TSPs) was because of the investment made in the rollout of 5G in the country.

The minister, speaking in Parliament, also mentioned that telecom service providers have covered 98% of districts and 82% of the population with the 5G networks within 22 months of 5G launch in the country. "Nearly ₹4.5 lakh crore has been invested in rolling out the 5G network. There should be a return on investment," said the minister.
