Rebellion brews among ranks after ticket distributions

The announcement, made by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee alongside Abhishek Banerjee, triggered visible unrest across several constituencies.

In Jalpaiguri, veteran leader Khageswar Roy resigned as the chairman of the Jalpaiguri district Trinamool Congress post after being replaced by athlete Swapna Barman. A four-time MLA, Roy alleged that “money power” influenced the decision. “I have been with Mamata Banerjee since she formed the party. Today I have been defeated by money. Someone must have given money, and that is why my name was dropped,” he said. He warned that the party would “lose the Rajganj seat”.
