History-sheeter 'attacks' officer with machete to evade arrest, shot in leg

A 31-year-old history-sheeter was shot in his right leg by the Karur district police personnel after he allegedly tried to attack one of the police inspectors in an attempt to evade arrest on Wednesday night.
The police were on the lookout for the history-sheeter, 'Pencil' alias Thamizhazhagan of MGR Nagar in Chinna Aandankoil in Karur, in connection with an attempt to murder case.
More than 15 cases, including attempted murder and robbery, have been pending against him in Karur and Pudukottai districts.
