Exporters to tap new markets across world
INDIAN rice exporters will hardly be impacted even if the US imposes a new tariff on the import of rice from India, affirmed several export associations.
The premium quality of Basmati rice gives India a competitive edge over other rice importing countries, and exporters believe that the US consumers will continue to buy though at an inflated price even if the tariff is imposed.
US President Donald Trump has threatened to impose new tariff on agricultural imports including Indian rice as he accuses Asian nations of dumping rice to the US.
