SEVERAL MPs from various political parties on Tuesday questioned why no FIR had yet been lodged in the case of the alleged recovery of cash from a High Court judge.

- RAJESH KUMAR THAKUR @ New Delhi

The lawmakers, attending a meeting of the Parliamentary Committee on Personnel, Public Grievances, Law and Justice, also proposed that the Department of Justice prepare a detailed briefing on the matter.

Sources familiar with the development said that a number of MPs called for a code of conduct for judges, suggesting that justices in the higher judiciary should be barred from taking up government appointments for five years after retirement.

During the meeting, MPs from various parties posed multiple questions to the Ministry of Law and Justice regarding its actions on judiciary-related matters.
