Woman accuses high security jail officials of exploiting husband

"It has been a month and a half since I talked to Rajeevan. He used to call me every alternate day. It seems the prison authorities deliberately severed the phone connection to prevent inmates from contacting their families," said a worried Thankamma, who had come to the Viyyur high-security prison all the way from Wayanad to see her husband T K Rajeevan.

Rajeevan was arrested in November 2020 over alleged Maoist links. He was the leader of then Ayyankali Pada. Thankamma, a member of the Scheduled Tribe in Wayanad, has been struggling to meet ends ever since his arrest.
