It will ensure evidence-based policing via proper use of available data in CCTNS repository

- SHAN A S @T'Puram

In a bid to migrate to data-based policing that is expected to enhance the efficiency of the department, the police will roll out its own data analytics tool by January. The police have an enormous quantity of data, which has largely been lying unused in its Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS). The objective of the new project is to advance evidence-based policing through proper use of all available data in CCTNS repository.

Though CCTNS currently has got in-built analytics tool, it is an archaic one with a limited output. The new tool will help officers get all the data they want within five minutes. The officers can give their queries as input and the tool will collate and present the data in a coherent manner, said a source.
