Passengers struggle as renovation work hampers Shoranur Junction ops

Central foot overbridge at rly station has been closed for renovation since Onam season

PASSENGERS who depend on the Shoranur Junction, Kerala's largest railway station, are facing a harrowing time these days. The station, with seven platforms and nearly 100 daily train arrivals, currently lacks adequate connectivity between its platforms, forcing passengers to endure a challenging commute within the premises.

At present, the station has only one functional foot overbridge located at the eastern end, which all passengers and visitors are compelled to use to access platforms two to seven. A central foot-overbridge, previously available, has been closed for renovation since the last Onam season. Adding to the woes, the lifts at major platforms are also out of service.
