Shukla liftoff brings cheer to his alma mater in Lucknow

TEARS welling up in her eyes and prayers on her lips, Asha Shukla stared unblinkingly at the screen as the Axiom-4, with her son Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla aboard, lifted off for the International Space Station on Wednesday.
Seated beside her, Shubhanshu's father Shambhu Dayal Shukla was beaming with pride. They were joined by the staff and students of Shubhanshu's alma mater — City Montessorie School in Lucknow — where elaborate arrangements were made for the live telecast of the mission launch.
"We cannot describe this in words. We are not scared for Shubhanshu at all. We are very happy and proud," Asha Shukla said, overwhelmed.
