Kartarpur corridor open, but number of devotees declines
The New Indian Express Thiruvananthapuram
|April 26, 2025
AMID escalating tensions between India and Pakistan after Tuesday's Pahalgam attack, the Kartarpur corridor is the lone open route between both countries. Pilgrims continue to visit Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, Pakistan, but the number of devotees has dwindled.
The Integrated Check Post (ICP) at Attari on the Indo-Pak border in Amritsar has closed down, but the post at Dera Baba Nanak in the Gurdaspur district of Punjab, which is on the Kartarpur corridor, is operational.
The corridor is the route Indian pilgrims take to reach Gurdwara Darbar Sahib. The shrine holds special significance for the Sikh community, as Guru Nanak Dev, the first Sikh Guru, spent the last 18 years of his life there and died there.
