MARKETS across the city were packed with shoppers preparing for Ugadi, the Hindu New Year, despite a surge in prices for essential items on Saturday.
MARKETS across the city were packed with shoppers preparing for Ugadi, the Hindu New Year, despite a surge in prices for essential items on Saturday. Vendors reported strong sales as people rushed to buy flowers, fruits, vegetables, and festival supplies. Gandhi Bazaar, APMC vegetable market, and the flower market near the KSRTC bus stand saw heavy footfall, with shoppers eager to purchase fresh flowers, mango leaves and festive decorations.
Traffic congestion was reported in key commercial areas, including Shivappa Nayaka Circle, Nehru Road, B H Road, and Durgigudi, as people stocked up on groceries and festival essentials. Vendors selling mangoes, neem leaves, bananas and seasonal fruits did brisk business.
