Sebi Proposes Tue or Thu for Derivatives' Expiries

|March 28, 2025
IN a bid to further control heavy losses that retail investors have been booking and also to limit the role of derivatives in the overall trading activities, market watchdog Sebi has put forth a proposal to limit equity derivatives' expiries to either Tuesdays or Thursdays for each of the exchanges.
This means that effectively the NSE and the BSE will have to opt for either of these two days. Currently, the BSE and the NSE use Tuesdays and Thursdays, respectively, as expiry days for single stock and index derivatives contracts, a practice formalized in January 2025.
