Heavy tourist rush choking tourist destinations: Activist

DUE to heavy tourist vehicle movement towards prominent tourist destinations like Mullayanagiri and Seethalayynagiri in Chikkamagaluru district, environmentalist G Veeresh has urged the administration to stop private tourist vehicles at the base near Allampura and arrange for mini buses to ferry tourists.

Green activist G Veeresh told TNIE that Mullayanagiri hill range, which is eco-sensitive, has been overburdened with tourists and their vehicles as the tourist hotspots have witnessed increased footfall during weekends. "This is causing traffic congestion and inconveniencing the locals. It is a tiring task to climb the steps from the base to reach the summit. Above all, the ma
