Says officials of commercial tax department should adopt a humane approach to safeguard interest of farmers

DISTRICT Minister Madhu S Bangarappa instructed officials to take necessary measures to prevent unnecessary restrictions and excessive taxation on the transportation of arecanut, rice, and other agricultural products cultivated by small and marginal farmers, as well as horticulturists in the district.

Presiding over a progress review meeting of various departmental development programmes at the deputy commissioner's office here on Saturday, Madhu said that imposing unnecessary curbs and levying heavy taxes on the transportation of farm produce is unfair to farmers. He asked officials of the commercial tax department to adopt a humane approach while implementing regulations to ensure that the interests of farmers are safeguarded.
