Civil Defence still a mystery for aam aadmi

THE role that Civil Defence volunteers play remains a mystery for many.

With the Ministry of Home Affairs calling for a mock drill by Civil Defence in districts identified as vulnerable areas across the country, the importance of the organisation has come to the fore.

Awareness of Civil Defence staff among the public remains relatively low. The New Indian Express contacted more than 20 individuals over phone calls and in person, including officials from the Central and state governments, senior citizens, and youths. Most were unaware of the role of the organisation.
