Lack of sensitisation of 'Jalasiri Yojana' has resulted in 'billing chaos'

Residents of old Davanagere where 'Jalasiri Yojana' is implemented are getting abnormal and inflated water bills. At MCC 'B' block, Chamarajpet and other areas where the scheme is functioning, the monthly bill runs to the tune of Rs 31,276, Rs 21,874, Rs 4,679 for many residents for January month. Consumers are forced to pay this bill or else water supply will be stopped, officials warned. This has become a big problem for the residents of Davanagere who dreamt of getting 24x7 water from the 'Jalasiri Yojana'.
