Delay in relief angers flood-hit villagers of Balasore

The situation in flood-hit villages of Baliapal, Bhograi, Basta and Jaleswar blocks continues to remain grim, with the affected people alleging delay in the provision of relief materials.

Surrounded by water for the last three days, the affected villagers claimed help is yet to reach them since the Subarnarekha river breached its banks after neighboring Jharkhand opened eight gates of the barrage at Galudihi to release excess rainwater.

Though the floodwater has receded significantly and the Subarnarekha was flowing at 8.04 meters against the danger level of 10.36 meters, there has been no improvement in the situation of the villagers who are facing difficulties in getting food and safe drinking water.
