Water supply contamination scare in Tiruchy ward

TENSION prevailed at Minappan Street in Ward 10 of the corporation on Saturday evening when a group of residents staged a protest following the hospitalisation of seven people from the locality on complaints of stomach pain.
The residents alleged that contamination of the potable water supplied by the corporation in the area led to the health crisis.
The situation escalated after the death of a four-year-old child from the same locality, intensifying public concern.
Acting on the allegations, a team from the corporation lifted water samples from the locality and initiated an inquiry.
