THE leadership of the two dominant communities, Veerashaiva Lingayats and Vokkaligas are upbeat over the announcement of the fresh Socio Economic Survey.
Albeit welcoming the move, they are planning to go ahead with their own census of the communities digitally.
If the fresh SES by the government undercounts their population, the community leaderships want to counter it with their own data.
Akhila Bharata Veerashaiva Mahasabha secretary HM Renuka Prasanna told TNIE that software is being developed for the survey.
"In every village, individuals will be covered and data will be uploaded on our website. The Mahasabha units at villages will be equipped in such a way that they will upload the data on the birth and death of the individuals of the community, time to time," he informed, adding that soon a meeting will be held under the chairmanship of the Mahasabha president, Shamanuru Shivashankarappa.
