Measures like field inspections, camera monitoring, audits of cattle taken up
THE recent tiger poisoning incident that drew national attention has prompted forest officials along the Karnataka-Tamil Nadu border to step up vigilance, particularly around cattle grazing in forest fringe areas.
Initially, the forest staff responded with increased patrolling and field inspections, including camera monitoring and audits of cattle and their owners. Later, these efforts fizzled out. "For a week, yes, they were visible. But now, it's back to business as usual — doing nothing," said a resident of Martahalli.
