Sudhakar Slams State Govt in Parliament Over Fertiliser Crisis, Seeks Transparency

CHIKKABALLAPUR MP Dr K Sudhakar, during the Zero Hour in the Lok Sabha on Wednesday, delivered a strong and urgent appeal regarding the alarming shortage and black marketing of fertilisers in Karnataka in the ongoing Kharif season.

He asserted that despite the Government of India ensuring adequate fertiliser supplies, the Congress-led state government in Karnataka has failed to distribute them effectively, leading to artificial shortages and rampant black marketing. He said farmers in several districts—including Chikkaballapur, Kalaburagi, Gadag, Koppal, and Davanagere—have been forced to buy fertilisers and seeds at nearly double the standard price.

The MP revealed that urea, which is subsidised and meant to be sold at ₹258 is being illegally sold at ₹400-₹500, while DAP, which should cost ₹1,200 is being sold for as much as ₹1,800 in the open market.
