Phones, cigarettes, liquor - all available for right price inside Mysuru Central Jail

IN what can only be described as a damning indictment of the prison system, Mysuru Central Jail (central prison), which is meant to reform criminals, is fast becoming a haven of corruption and illegal indulgence.

Explosive allegations have now emerged from none other than a government-appointed insider, rocking the credibility of jail authorities.

Pavan Siddarama, a nominated member of the Jail Visiting Board, has pulled the curtain on a thriving underground market operating within the high-security prison walls. From cellphones to cigarettes, and even liquor—everything is allegedly available to inmates, for the right price.

"Inmates are paying ₹6,000 for a basic keypad phone, and up to ₹20,000 for an Android smartphone, all while serving their sentences," Siddarama revealed.
