Ordinance Instills Confidence, Villagers Return to Houses

KRRS activists, village headmen to educate people on ordinance in rural areas

WITH the state government bringing in an ordinance protecting the borrowers from harassment by microfinance firms and Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot giving his nod for the same, the borrowers who had deserted houses and villages to escape from harassment of recovery agents are now returning to their homes.

Three families that had deserted Hegavadipura in Chamarajanagar taluk have returned to their houses and have decided to make use of the provisions of the ordinance. While many more families across the region are likely to follow suit a couple of days hoping that there will be legal protection from the government as there is also provisions to lodge a complaint against harassing microfinance firm.

As the Governor has given his nod for the ordinance, the village headmen and activists have got in touch with the absconding families. They are also advised to return to their houses as microfinance firms can't impose exorbitant interest rates nor harass them using the Goonda elements.
