Child marriages a cause for concern in Hassan district

CHILD marriages continue unabated in Hassan district with a whopping 112 cases reported in the last 10 months in the district.

As many as 14 such cases were reported after the marriages had already taken place. However, a joint operation led by officials from the Women and Child Department, the Child Development Project Officer, and the Child Protection Committee successfully prevented 98 child marriages across various parts of the district. These actions were made possible after receiving tips from locals.
