BJP, OBC leaders allege conspiracy to classify Hindu castes as Christians

- EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE @Mysuru

Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) former member Dasaiah has urged the state government to recommend the removal of Adi Karnataka (AK), Adi Dravida (AD), and Adi Andhra (AA) groups from the Scheduled Castes (SC) list, and to consider only the remaining 98 castes during the upcoming caste enumeration alongside the 2027 population census.

Speaking at a roundtable on 'Conspiracy in Internal Reservation and Protection of Constitutional Rights of SC Right Communities' organised by the Karnataka Samvidhana Samrakshana Horata Samiti and Jai Bhim Samajika Parivarthana Vedike at the PWD Guest House on Sunday, Dasaiah argued that AK, AD, and AA were administrative groupings introduced during the British era and not actual castes.

"The state government itself cannot delete these groups. However, under Article 341(2) of the Constitution, it can propose their deletion to the Central government. Only Parliament has the power to remove them. Currently, there are 101 castes in the SC list. Once these three groups are deleted, only 98 castes will remain. This will enable accurate population data for each caste, based on which the state can ensure internal reservation backed by empirical and quantifiable evidence," he explained.
