Kamath alleges rice meant for the poor is stolen and stored elsewhere
MLA Vedavyas Kamath alleged on Tuesday that rice from the Public Distribution System (PDS) in the state is sold illegally. Speaking at a press conference in Mangaluru, he stated, "Rice intended for the poor is being stolen, stored elsewhere, and sold in the open market. This misuse of rice, which is meant for the underprivileged, must come to an end."
"Poor people who need it, are forced to stand outside ration shops and return empty-handed. Ration shops have displayed 'No Stock' boards as rice under the 'Anna Bhagya' scheme is now out of stock. When Congress came to power, it promised to distribute 10 kg of rice but is struggling to supply even 5 kg. It is not distributing 5 kg of rice supplied by the union government. The concerned minister has stated that there is no shortage of rice. If so, why do ration shops display 'no stock' boards? Why are people returning empty-handed? This is nothing but misgovernance of the Congress," he lashed out.
