Political rift deepens in Chungathara as UDF wrests panchayat from LDF

THE conflict between the CPM and All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) members, led by AITC state coordinator, has escalated in Chungathara after the UDF wrested control of the panchayat from the LDF with AITC's support.
THE conflict between the CPM and All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) members, led by AITC state coordinator, has escalated in Chungathara after the UDF wrested control of the panchayat from the LDF with AITC's support. Nusaiba Sudheer, a CPM member and wife of Sudheer Punnappala, the Chungathara mandalam convener of the AITC, played a key role in helping the UDF overthrow the LDF's rule in the panchayat.
On Friday, Sudheer lodged a complaint with Malappuram Superintendent of Police (SP) R Viswanadh, alleging that CPM members had threatened him and vandalised his service centre near the Chungathara panchayat, destroying printers and other equipment.
