₹4.2K cr scheme to boost technical education; ₹2.1K cr 4-lane NH project for 46-km stretch
The Union Cabinet on Friday approved a slew of schemes and projects, including ₹4,200 crore support to state governments to implement the Multidisciplinary Education and Research Improvement in Technical Education (MERITE) Scheme, ₹4,250 crore for North-Eastern states of Assam and Tripura as part of a special development package, and a 4-lane National Highway project worth ₹2,157 crore connecting a 46-km stretch between Marakkanam-Puducherry of the Chennai-Nagapattinam NH 332A.
Briefing media after the meeting of the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that a scheme worth ₹4,200 crore for the MERITE has been approved.
