Police raid govt polytechnic hostel, three students arrested with ganja

College suspends students; police seize 1.909kg and 9.7g ganja from two separate rooms
POLICE carried out an overnight raid at the hostel of the Government Polytechnic College in Kalamassery and arrested three third-year students, including an SFI leader, for possession of ganja.
Akash M, 21, of Kulathupuzha, Kollam; Adithyan, 20, of Haripad, Alappuzha; and Abhiraj P, 21, of Thodiyoor North, Kollam, were arrested. Abhiraj is the union general secretary of the college.
According to officers, 1.909kg of ganja was seized from Akash's room, while 9.7g was recovered from the accommodation provided to Adithyan and Abhiraj. The search that started at 10.30pm on Thursday concluded around 1 am on Friday.
The District Anti-Narcotics Special Action Force (DANSAF) team received a tip-off that some students at the Periyar Men's Hostel of the college were holding and selling ganja. Based on the alert, the team, joined by Kalamassery police, searched the hostel rooms.
