A suspected wild elephant attack was reported at Aralam Farm, where a toddy tapper, P K Prasad (50), was found seriously injured in Block 3.
Prasad, a native of Ambalakandi, was discovered around 3 am on Thursday.
Prasad sustained severe injuries to his ribs and jaw and was admitted to Kannur MIMS Hospital for specialized treatment. He has been moved to the ICU and is currently on ventilator support.
"Prasad is a toddy tapper, and he went to Block 3 early in the morning for coconut tree tapping. When he failed to return home on time, his relatives began searching for him. He was later found in critical condition by his companions. On the way to the hospital, Prasad told his relatives that he had been attacked by a wild elephant. However, since he is in critical condition, we have not been able to confirm this," said Aralam panchayat president K P Rajesh.
