Extend evening trains up to Kasaragod, Say passengers

RAMESH Vayambu, a merchant from 7th Mile in Kasaragod district, visits Kozhikode for purchases but always has to rush to complete the chores before 5 pm and rush to Kozhikode Railway Junction. In another ten minutes, he has to board the Thiruvananthapuram Central-Lokmanya Tilak Netravati Express -- the last train (daily train) towards Kasaragod, failing which he has to find accommodation in Kozhikode for the night or wait for nearly eight hours to board the next daily train towards Kasaragod, the West Coast Express.

Vayambu is not alone. Anil Kumar M, an executive who attends monthly meetings at his headquarters in Kozhikode also undergoes the same agony. "The journey back home is tedious if we miss the Netravati Express. We would be stranded in Kozhikode if we don't plan properly," he says.
