The Rani Chennamma University of Belagavi has banned two private institutions in Vijayapura district for three years and fined them Rs 30 lakh each for collecting money from students in the name of donations. The University cited a clear violation of government rules.
The University took this decision recently, based on a report from the Syndicate Sub-committee, which was constituted to probe allegations of mismanagement, the collection of exorbitant fees, and the failure to provide basic facilities in the colleges.
The committee was headed by Rafi Bhandari, a syndicate member of the RCU-B, who submitted the report to the University during a recently held meeting.
