Traffic on Belagavi-Chorla highway suspended due to rising Malaprabha River

DUE to heavy rainfall across Maharashtra and border parts of Belagavi district, the water level in the Krishna River is rising significantly.
TRAFFIC on the Belagavi-Chorla State Highway was completely suspended on Sunday and Monday as a precautionary measure following a surge in water level in the Malaprabha River near Kusmali in Khanapur taluk.
The increased water flow has put the temporary alternative bridge at risk, prompting authorities to close the route to ensure commuter safety. The Belagavi-Goa interstate road closure has caused major inconvenience to daily commuters.
In response, the local administration has advised motorists to use the Jamboti-Khanapur route as an alternative until conditions improve.
