Relief for commuters as Sambra Airport Road widening gets green signal

Thousands of vehicles commute daily on this route, leading to traffic snarls

GIVING a big relief to the motorists commuting on the Sambra Airport Road, the Public Works Department (PWD) has decided to shortly commence widening of the airport road to ease the traffic movement and reduce the time to reach the airport. If everything goes as planned, the widened road will be available for the commuters by the end of this year.

The existing four-lane highway from Belagavi to Nilaji village on airport road has been a major connector, but beyond Nilaji, the road narrows into a two-lane stretch, causing significant traffic congestion for those travelling to Sambra Airport. To address this long-standing issue, Public Works dept Minister Satish Jarkiholi has stepped in and the government has now given the green signal to upgrade the road to a four-lane all the way up to the airport.
