A big online fraud has surfaced from Chikkodi taluk in Belagavi district, where a poor family lost Rs 24 lakh after falling victim to a cyber fraud.
The fraudsters promised a young cricketer a spot in the Indian Premier League (IPL), leaving the family financially devastated and on the streets.
Rakesh Yadure, a budding cricketer from Chinchali village, was tricked into believing he had been selected to play for the Rajasthan Royals.
In pursuit of this dream, his father Bhimappa, a security guard, borrowed heavily to arrange Rs 24 lakh over several months, hoping for a better future for his son.
