Inspired by Gukesh, U-K ZP creates Chess Park for budding talents

TO promote the game of chess among the local people, the Uttara Kannada Zilla Panchayat has come out with a first-of-its-kind Chess Park in Chittakula, a rural area near Karwar, where budding talent can be nurtured.

Two more such parks, one at Kumta and another at Ambewadi near Dandeli, are also in the pipeline.

The crowning of 18-year-old D Gukesh as the World Chess Champion has created a spark in many hearts. Youngsters are now aiming to become chess champions, but many lack direction as there are no coaches and proper facilities.
