Farmers Demand Pending Sugarcane Payments in Bidar

The Karnataka State Farmers' Association and the Hasiru Sene Bidar district unit took out a protest rally and submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner to clear the dues from the supplied sugarcane to the factory here on Thursday.

The memorandum stated that although the farmers of the district have been supplying sugarcane to the factories for about 6-7 months, the money has not been deposited in their accounts. The District Farmers' Association met the district in-charge Minister and the Chief Minister several times and submitted petitions, but to no avail. Sugar has been confiscated in the factories. But so far, the farmers have not benefited. Since it is the sowing time of the monsoon season, the farmers have to pay for seeds, fertilizers, expenses for plowing in agriculture, school and college admission fees for the farmers' childre
