Acute Diarrhea Control Fortnight Launched to Curb Child Mortality

SEVERE diarrhea is the main cause for death in five-year-old children.
When diarrhea recurs in children, the weight of the children decreases and malnutrition occurs. Due to this, the death rate in children under the age of five is high, said District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr Dyaneshwar Nirugude.
He was speaking at the inauguration of the "Acute Diarrhea Control Fortnight" programme organised by the Nutritional Food Rehabilitation Center of BRIMS Hospital Bidar on Wednesday. The programme will be held from June 16-31 by giving ORS packets and zinc tablets to children.
