LESS than a year after over 13 candidates died in the excise constable recruitment drive in Jharkhand while attempting to clear the physical test required for selection, the state has decided to relax the rules.
Candidates for the posts of constable in the state excise or police department would no longer have to run for 10 kilometres as part of the physical test in the exam. The manual has been amended to provide relaxation to the candidates. The appointment rules for constables, excise constables, warders and home guards have been revised.
The decision was taken during a Cabinet meeting chaired by CM Hemant Soren on Wednesday, in which as many as 31 proposals were okayed.
