RDPR UNIVERSITY NEEDS Rs 45 CR FOR ACADEMIC, INFRA GROWTH

1,200 postgraduate students study at the varsity which is the first of its kind in the country

The Rural Development and Panchayat Raj (RDPR) University in Gadag, the first of its kind in the country, is facing severe financial crunch as the state government has not provided the required financial assistance for its academic and infrastructure development.

The state government had received a lot of appreciation when it set up the university. Thanks to the initiative of the then RDPR Minister H K Patil and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who in his first tenure as Chief Minister, approved the setting of the varsity to study rural development related subjects to conduct and encourage research and study in rural development, create rural employment, ensure employment in rural development department and overall development of rural governance and rural health.
