Says branding organic produce would help farmers secure better prices

DEPUTY Commissioner Nalin Atul urged farmers in the district to adopt organic farming and assured that the agriculture department will take necessary steps to establish a better market for organic produce.

Inaugurating the district-level organic fair and seminar held at the Koppal District Administration Auditorium, organised in collaboration with the district administration, zilla panchayat, and agriculture department, he emphasised that excessive use of chemicals in farming depletes soil fertility and negatively impacts human health. To protect soil and public health, organic farming has become essential in today's era, he added.

In Koppal district, paddy is cultivated on more than 3 lakh acres across regions like Gangavathi, Karatagi, Kanakagiri, and Koppal taluks. With growing demand for organic produce, the agriculture department has organised this fair to raise awareness among farmers. He stated that branding organic produce would help farmers secure better prices and benefit consumers with healthier food options.
