Eco-friendly fest, awards this year
The New Indian Express Hubballi
|August 20, 2025
THE Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) has taken a unique initiative called 'Prakruti Ganeshotsava', a nature-friendly Ganesha festival, to make this year's Ganesh Chaturthi a completely eco-friendly celebration.
In the twin cities of Hubballi-Dharwad, plastic waste is increasing day by day. A novel campaign has been planned this year to raise complete awareness among the public about the harmful effects of plastic, especially single-use plastic, which has already been banned and is often imported from abroad.
Hubballi-Dharwad mayor Jyoti Patil has stated that during festivals, over 100 tons of waste is generated in the twin cities. To reduce this volume and prevent non-recyclable waste, the corporation has conceived such innovative programs. Citizens of the twin cities are urged to join hands and contribute to the success of Prakruti Ganeshotsava.
