Maha House Clears Public Security Bill Amid Oppn Uproar

The Maharashtra Legislative Council on Friday passed a special public security bill to curb urban naxalism.
In protest, the Opposition, including the Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT), and NCP, staged a walkout and submitted a dissent note.
Maharashtra would be the fifth state to pass this special public security bill after Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Jharkhand.
In the state Legislative Assembly, the bill was passed with one dissent from Communist Party of India (Marxist) MLA Vinod Nikole, while no members from Congress, NCP, SP, and Shiv Sena (UBT) raised objections.
