Sun TV says Dayanidhi's share fraud allegations speculative, defamatory

IN the wake of grave allegations levelled by DMK MP and former union minister Dayanidhi Maran against his elder brother and Sun media group chairman Kalanithi Maran, Sun TV Network Ltd, the public listed parent company of the group, on Friday said the matter was a personal dispute among promoters and had no bearing on the company's business operations.

In a disclosure to the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), the company said the statements "allegedly made in the (media) articles are incorrect, misleading, speculative, defamatory and not supported by facts or law." "We wish to inform that all acts have been done in accordance with legal obligations and were duly vetted by concerned intermediaries before the public issue of the company," read the letter sent by company secretary and compliance officer Ravi Ramamoorthy.
