FINANCE Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that financial inclusion cannot be used as a pretext for 'financial exploitation', and that lending should be based on the genuine needs and repayment capacity of customers.

Speaking at an NBFC conclave in New Delhi on Wednesday, Sitharaman said that loans should not be aggressively marketed or pushed onto individuals, as she told the NBFCs that the push for growth should not come at the expense of customer well-being.
