IN Ahmedabad, the Cyber Crime Branch has cracked down on the notorious 'Thakrar' gang, booked in 404 cases nationwide for a ₹16.04-crore cyber scam. Six members are behind bars, while the mastermind, Milan, operating from Dubai, is absconding.
Investigators found he was converting fraud money into crypto and funnelling it to a Chinese syndicate, with a probe hinting at a staggering ₹300-crore transaction trail. From the gang's Ambawadi office, police seized ₹37.11 lakh cash, 65 passbooks, 158 chequebooks, 45 debit/credit cards, 49 SIMs, 12 mobiles, and a cash-counting machine.
