Kerala CEO has mooted proposal to use 1,700 students, who are members of Electoral Literacy Clubs, for enumeration
THE Kerala Election Department’s move to utilise the services of students, who are members of Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELCs) in their respective schools, for the ongoing Special Summary Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has courted controversy, with the Kerala government opposing the proposal.
In a statement, General Education Minister V Sivankutty said deploying school students for SIR-related work would disrupt their studies. The Minister said academic activities were going ahead in full swing in the state’s schools with the terminal examinations round the corner.
