Deepam row: SC to hear TN plea against HC order

THE Supreme Court on Friday agreed to hear the plea filed by the TN government challenging the Madras HC's December 4 order permitting devotees of the Arulmighu Subramaniya Swamy Temple to light the traditional 'Karthigai Deepam lamp' at 'Deepathoon', a stone lamp pillar locatedon the Thiruparankundram hillock (Madurai district) close to a dargah.
On Friday, during a mentioning from the lawyer representing the TN government requesting the bench for an urgent hearing, the top court said the plea will be considered for listing before a bench.
