58L farmers to get benefit as ₹36.5K cr loan waiver okayed

THE Maharashtra cabinet on Tuesday decided to waive off the farmers’ crop loans but withheld the announcement due to the MLC election code of conduct.
While the state has decided to waive up to ₹2 lakh in loans for the farmers, those who are not defaulters will be granted ₹50,000 as an incentive or award money. This farm loan waiver decision will benefit over 58 lakh farmers in the state.
Earlier, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had said that his government would take the farm loan waiver decision in June 2026.
